HO CHI MINH CITY, November 2nd 2009 - CSC (NYSE: CSC) today announced that its global delivery center in Vietnam has been successfully appraised at CMMI Level 5 version 1.2, the highest maturity level of the Software Engineering Institute’s (SEI) Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI) framework. With this achievement, CSC becomes the first IT company in Vietnam to be appraised at this level. FCG Vietnam, now part of CSC, was also the nation’s first company to achieve the CMMI Level 5 version 1.1 in January 2005
CMMI, an enhanced version of the CMM model from SEI, is for organizations interested in evaluating and improving their processes to develop and maintain complex systems for the delivery of services. The CMMI ratings are awarded after an exhaustive independent evaluation determines if an organization's engineering, development and management processes and products conform to the CMMI model. CSC’s recent assessment in Vietnam was conducted by QAI India Limited.
CMMI version 1.1 was released in January 2001. The latest version 1.2 of CMMI was released in August 2006 and includes an update on practices for high maturity organizations. With this version, SEI has made the assessment process more stringent especially for the usage of statistical techniques and process performance models in statistically managing processes and sub-processes. In addition, SEI requires the reappraisal process every three years to maintain the maturity level achieved.
